When Do I Need A Pilot Car in Utah?
he following operating conditions require only One Pilot/Escort Vehicles in Utah:
1. Loads between 12-14 feet wide on secondary highways(non-interstate), and 14-16 feet wide on divided highways(interstates).
2. Loads 105-120 feet in length on secondary highways, and 120 feet long on divided highways.
3. Overhangs in excess of 20 feet.
The following operating conditions require Two Pilot/Escort Vehicles in Utah:
1. Loads greater than 14 feet wide on secondary highways, and 16 feet on divided highways.
2. Loads longer than 120 feet on secondary highways.
3. All loads greater than 16 feet in height on all highways.
